Race: Points Race #02
Date: 4-4-2004
Location: Richmond, Va.
Track: 360 West Shopping Center
Temperature: 51°F (winds15-25mph)

V.O.R.R.A.'s second points race of the 2004 season was another cold and blustery one. Temperatures only rose to the lower 50's and the wind was horrid. When the sun dipped behind the clouds it really got chilly. Due to the limited number of club members on hand & some reluctant drivers, track set-up began later than usual.

Qualifying started around 12:00 and proved to difficult due to water seeping from beneath the track and kept competitors cranking on the radios to keep their racers out of the walls.

In 1/8th scale, Sean Tabor set down the fast qualifying time and took TQ honors while Mike McDaniels showed Nitro Touring Po the fast way around.
In Nitro Touring Sport, Ashley Stringer set the pace, while Tommy Ingram secured the honors in two class's, Electric Touring & Nitro Truck.

In the Mains there were very few surprises. Sean Tabor out-classed the 1/8th scale field and while Mike McDaniels won the Nitro Touring Pro class convincingly. Nitro Touring Pro-B did however have a closely contested finish as Kevin Randolph narrowly beat Jamie Donati to the checkard flag.

Corrine Medlin did raise a few eyebrows in Electric Touring as she put it to the TQ and show 'em how to get 'round the ole track.
Ashley Stringer, who was never really challeged In Nitro Touring Sport, strolled off to victory and closed out the racing.

In all, I think everyone had a good day racing considering the cold conditions.
Please make plans to attend the next scheduled points race on April 18. Hope to see ya there!
