Once setup was complete, a drivers meeting was held and registration was opened, followed by 1 round of controlled practice then we moved directly into qualifying in an attempt to beat the rain.
Qualifying:
Only one round of qualifying was completed and that took awhile to finish as a rain shower halted the event for about an hour. I'd like to thank those Monster Truck guys for helping to disperse the water by running their trucks on the wet track to expedite drying. I an attempt to beat the weather, it was decided to skip second round qualifying and go right into the mains but this failed as the bottom fell out of the sky before the mains could be setup.
Falling back on the unwritten rules for rained out R/C events, points were awarded by qualifying position. This can only be done if one complete round has been finished. If a second round had been run and then the mains were rained out the drivers best qualifying time from the two would have been used to determine points. If one round was completed and the second round was interrupted only the one completed round would count.
Top three qualifiers in each class are as follow below.
1/8th Pro: 1st: Mike Bowman, 2nd: John Laster, 3rd: Sean Tabor.
1/10th Electric: 1st: John Laster, 2nd: Joe Harler, 3rd: Larry Ballard.
Nitro Truck: 1st: Tommy Ingram, 2nd: Joe Harler, 3rd: Earl Ingram.
1/10th Touring Sport: 1st: Aaron Bartlett, 2nd: Jamie Donati, 3rd: Joe Harler.
1/10th Touring Pro: 1st: John Laster, 2nd: Johnny Pritchett, 3rd: David Basl.
Nitro Monster Truck: 1st: Aaron Bartlett, 2nd: Victor Boger, 3rd: Wayne Goodwin.
